We are thrilled to announce that we are now members of Canadian Partnership of Women and Children’s Health (CanWaCH)!

CanWaCH is made up of more than 100 NGOs, academic institutions, private companies, health professionals and individuals working together to improve health outcomes for women and children around the world. As a member, we join along some of our existing partners and leaders in the space including CARE, World Vision and Action Against Hunger.

Making meaningful change in the global health space

Beyond convening members, CanWaCH has a number of initiatives and special projects focused on advancing and strengthening the Canadian health sector’s ability to advance the health and rights of girls and women around the world.

You can check out their initiatives, and visit their learning centre for additional resources.

Working together to end hidden hunger

As a Certified BCorp working to improve global health through simple innovations, we look forward to being part of this national network pushing for equity in global health systems. Nutrition is drastically underfunded in the global health space, yet without adequate nutrition none of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) will be achievable as nutrition is imperative to human health.

The latest data from the Lancet Global Health shows that micronutrient deficiencies, often referred to as “hidden hunger,” are on the rise with an estimated 56% of preschool aged children and 69% of non-pregnant women of reproductive age deficient in at least one micronutrient. Iron deficiency remains the largest micronutrient deficiency disproportionately impacting women and children and those who menstruate.

It is a critical time for all sectors to come together to address the world’s nutritional challenges as it will take all levels of government, civil society, the private sector and individuals working together to create meaningful and sustainable change.

We look forward to working in partnership with other CanWaCH members to advocate for the change needed.
